Charter Schools in Minnesota do not receive local tax dollars like district levies. This means that Level Up Academy operates on 20% less funding than the state average, while most schools in our area receive funding at or above the average.
Dedicated Staff
Our talented teachers and administrative staff choose to work at LUA for a salary that is, on average, 20% lower than they would make elsewhere. They often use a portion of their own salaries to purchase classroom materials.
Rising Costs
Because bussing costs have tripled in recent years, we have had to reduce the number of field trips for our students.
Grant-Funded Programs
We rely entirely on grants and donations to provide our free after-school theater program, including the annual 3rd-6th Grade Musical and 7th-8th Grade Play.
